Doing small things can make a better Kenmore

More than two dozen people showed up at TI awh-ah-dees park on April 20 to participate in Thoughtful Citizens' Earth Day cleanup of the park. The volunteers picked up litter and trash from in and around the park totaling 129 pounds.

Thoughtful Citizens is the brainchild of Maura Query, a Kenmore resident who wanted to find a way to allow children to participate in civic volunteerism. Together with her daughter Lucille Vickery (11) and Maura's parents Anne and Curt Caswell, they have organized a variety of volunteer events that kids can do to help make Kenmore better. They have made and sent holiday cards to seniors living in senior housing, and they also organized a scarf-making event to provide winter scarves for Mary's Place.
