Construction continues on West Sammamish Bridge/Juanita Way

While the newly constructed West Sammamish Bridge has reopened to traffic, construction on the project will continue until the end of 2022.

Completion of the entire project includes completing sidewalk and bicycle access, and connection to the widening and sidewalk projects included in the Juanita Way.

The Juanita Dr NE Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Improvements Project is one of five capital projects included in the City of Kenmore’s Walkways and Waterways Public Bond Measure approved by voters in 2016. Through this initiative, Kenmore residents confirmed that safe routes for pedestrians and bicyclists, as well as connecting residents with the City’s public open space and waterfront, are top priorities.Continuing work on that project includes:

  • 1.5 miles of new sidewalk and landscaping on the east side of Juanita Dr from 143rd St to NE 170th St

  • Buffered bicycle lanes in each direction

  • Bus stop improvements

  • Improved street lighting

  • A new storm drainage system

  • Minor traffic signal modifications

  • Construction is expected to last until fall 2022.
