Meet new KCC board member Dave Ahlman and marketing advisor Katie Miller

The KCC board of directors gained a new board member in November. At the Nov. 8 election, Dave Ahlman was elected to the trustee-at-large position. Dave is a mechanical engineer currently serving as a mechanical engineer and development manager at a tech startup in Redmond.

He and his wife, Yukiyo, have lived in Seattle for 10 years and have two daughters Anjou and Myra. The Ahlmans usually go to Japan every year to visit Yukiyo's family in Hiroshima. Dave speaks some Japanese and taught English there for three years while in his 20s.

In his spare time, Dave is an avid DIYer, and skilled woodworker and furniture maker with several projects in various stages of completion all the time.

After the election Vice President Fernell Miller convinced Katie Miller (no relation) to join the club as communication advisor to the board. Katie is the owner/operator of KM Marketing Services, providing social media and other marketing services for community-based organizations. Katie creates new pathways to connection, by blending storytelling, style and strategy to best serve her client’s marketing needs.

A graduate of the University of Washington she first worked in multi-family housing and commercial real estate before joining the marketing department at the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce and provided marketing consulting to the Kirkland Downtown Association.
