First annual Fall event drew crowds to multiple venues
Families from all over Northshore enjoyed Kenmore's first annual Oktoberfest, held Sept. 19 - 22 at Town Square, Brew Row, St. Edward's Park and ƛ̕ax̌ʷadis (Tl' awh-ah-dees) park. People enjoyed beer gardens with German music at Town Square and Brew Row along with fun activities including a 5k race, games, Dragon Boats, Kenmore history, and weiner dog races .
For the Kenmore Community Club's part, kids and adults enjoyed a chance to paddle a Dragon Boat and explore and interact with the tools, musical instruments and household items from the Salish tribe that first lived in what is now Kenmore. The Salish exhibit from the Burke Museum gave a steady stream of visitors a chance to learn about the first people of Kenmore, as well as view photo display of the development Kenmore as a city, from the earliest white settlers to mid-century establishment of businesses and city services.
