Sammamish bridge 1930 Sammamish bridge construction 2021
The Sammamish bridge project has closed one southbound lane due to demolition of the old bridge in preparation for replacement. The result is there is now only one lane of traffic for each direction between Bothell Way and Simonds Road for the next 10 months.
The lane restriction requires lowering the speed limit to 25 MPH throughout the work zone for the safety of the public and construction team and applies 24/7 in both directions.
In addition the lane revisions makes bicycling across the bridge particularly tricky. Drivers are asked to be especially aware of cyclists and allow them as much room as possible. Bicyclists who are not comfortable with the limited space are asked to dismount and walk across the bridge on the eastside sidewalk. The boat launch remains open, but parking is limited.
King County Metro will continue to provide bus service through the project work zone, however bus stop locations may change due to construction activity. For more information about bus service, visit King County Metro’s website.
The construction is expected to continue through the Fall of 2022.
