Roadwork to make the area around Arrowhead Elementary School safer and more walkable will continue through October, according to a City of Kenmore press release. The project involves putting in a new sidewalk, angled parking, landscaping and a new feature wall at the southeast corner of Northeast 153rd Place and Juanita Drive Northeast.
Throughout construction, the eastbound lane of Northeast 153rd Place will be closed from Juanita Drive Northeast to 70th Ave Northeast to vehicles, bikes and pedestrians. A detour will be in place directing eastbound traffic to Northeast 155th Place.
According to the release, eastbound Metro bus riders are directed to use the stop in front of the old fire station (70th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 153rd Place). The eastbound bus stop located within the project limits will be temporarily closed during construction. Local access to residents and businesses will be provided.
The Guesthouse in particular is in the middle of the detour and the city requests residents to make it a point to support the business during construction, according to the release.
According to the release, the project is funded by the WSDOT Safe Routes to School program ($673,594) and the city ($76,354).
